This concept keeps coming back to me: Unlearning.
I was talking with a fellow business owner about sales, products and pricing. I shared how I’m stepping into client connection and sharing about my business in a different way. And, how uncomfortable it feels. 😰
I feel I’m doing it wrong because it’s not really the way I learned – or frankly, the way I see it “should” be done. My friend pointed out that I’m unlearning the sales tactics that aren’t inherently me. And that it requires patience for the new ones to settle.
Truth is, this doesn’t apply only to sales. Relationships, life transitions and self-expression too.
The process of learning new ways of operating requires us to unlearn the old ones.
Unlearning takes time because you must intentionally do something differently than what you’re accustomed to doing. Change doesn’t happen overnight.
It’ll likely be uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong – it just means you’re changing.
Unlearning creates space for the new. It frees up space for creativity, curiosity, innovation.
What do you want to unlearn in the way you do your business?
