I got my PCC and I’m officially a Professional Certified Coach. Woohoo!! 🎉
Right?
Not exactly.
As I’ve shared before, I am still learning to celebrate and acknowledge accomplishments. I am practicing!
I will likely share more of the celebration side of this since a lot of energy (time, money, intention) has gone in achieving this goal. But today, I want to share what the PCC is, what I made it be (in my overdriving mind) and what I learned in the process.
1. What it is: A credential
The International Coach Federation (ICF) is one of the largest organizations of coaches in the world. They assign three levels of credentials based on training and knowledge: ACC, PCC and MCC.
I’ve had my ACC for 2 years and now have my PCC.
2. What I made it mean: A measure of my worth
“I can’t charge that much because I don’t have my PCC.” “I can’t get that client because I don’t have my PCC.”
These were toxic thoughts that held me back many (many!) times. I made this credential (or the lack of it) be the reason I could or could not achieve my goals.
“Once I get my PCC, then client will come and my business will grow.”
I’m really not proud of the thought, but think about how that has played out for you too.
Replace those 3 letters with the “3 letters” from your world MBA.
PhD. CEO.
3. What I learned:
My worth is not calculated by 3 letters.
Three letters mean nothing about who I am, my values or my purpose.
Will I forget this? Probably 🤦🏽♀️
But the more clear I am on what matters to me, the more connected I am to my Self, and the more I practice both, the less often I will forget.
My business is built through work.
PCC or no PCC, I still need to do the work:
Share what I do (often and loudly) for others to know Jump Coaching
Show how I can transform my clients’ lives.
Manage the backend operations for the business to function. Do what I set out to do.
There are many ways to achieve your goals. Duh.
I lost so much energy trying to fit a square peg (me) into a round hole (the right way to get the PCC).
Just because people say you should go one way, doesn’t mean you should.
In the end, I stuck to the way that was right for me and my journey. 😌
Switching the voice of ‘should’ for the voice of my intuition? That’s when things started to flow.
This week’s email is sponsored by My Mistakes 📢 Don’t Make Them.
Stick to your intuition. You’re almost always right.
Forget the expectations you think everyone puts on you. Your friends, family, coworkers and clients want you to be YOU. No credential, course or badge will change that.
